LED won't fit in hole
« on: December 08, 2009, 05:27:37 PM »
I ordered a pre-drilled enclosure from Pedal Parts Plus and the Beginner's Project kit from here and I realized that the LED did not fit in the hole that was drilled for it. Is there anything I can do to make this fit? thanks.

how close is it? it mat just be powder coat in the hole. that stuff is usually applied at 4-9 mils.

I usually just use a circular file if it's only a little bit too snug.

Oh, I should've said that the hole is too big for the LED, not the other way around. It's pretty close to being the right size but it's just too small and slips through the hole.

Its probably meant for an LED holder.

Is the holder the little black thing that goes around it? Cause its got one of those.

What size LED do you have? maybe its meant for a 5mm one without a holder and you've got a 3mm one?

The kit has a 5mm led. That is very strange that it wouldn't fit.

I guess you can wrap tape around the bezel.

To install a 5mm LED in a pre-drilled Pedal Parts Plus enclosure you need an LED Bezel. http://www.pedalpartsplus.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PPP&Product_Code=5000&Category_Code=LO5

You should have a little black holder and collar like in the link below or similar, the holder fits in from the top of the enclosure  and the led pushes into it from below, then the collar is put over the the leads of the led from below and tightens up on the holder thus keeping the led tightly in place. If the holder slips through the drilled hole then you have a problem with the enclosure being drilled wrong.

It's fairly straight forward, if you want to start it , press start. You can work out the rest of the controls for yourself !

The black plastic holder fits in a 1/4" hole. The Pedal Parts Plus enclosures come pre-drilled with a 5/16" hole which is the size hole needed for the 5mm aluminum LED holder. http://www.pedalpartsplus.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PPP&Product_Code=5000&Category_Code=LO5
