How is this supposed to sound?
« on: April 07, 2010, 02:22:47 PM »
Hey everyone,

I finished the NPN-Boost today. Everything worked fine, which i have to say amazes me, because i am a newbie to the whole diy thing (including soldering). my questions are:

1.) how is this supposed to sound? (mine makes a kind of weird distorted sound. i know that that doesn't really describe the sound very well..)

2.) is it possible for a newbie to make this without having to debug it?

thanks for your help & thanks for everything aaron!

It should make your guitar sound clean and clear. The more gain you add, then more distorted it becomes.

It should boost when the knob is all the way to the left and get louder after that.

The voltages look ok. Please check the wiring of the pot and the attached capacitor (check the polarity). Also check the value of the 100K resistor at the end of the circuit.
