clean sound no distortion

i bread boarded this and im having trouble figuring out where to put the #1 wire from the pot . also prob a really dumb ? but the black transistor, does the semi circle go toward you are away from you?

Here is how the pot is wired:


The transistor orientation depends on the transistor used. You need to look it up. For example, click on the datasheet link in here:

i think i got that figured out but i think my capacitors are bad. i have power going into one and none coming out the other side. im on hold for a couple of days

im using 47uf 50v, and a 10uf, 25v. those are too high. i need lower v right?

no, the voltages are not too high. The larger the voltage the bigger the size of the cap usually, but as long as it can handle 9V, it's fine.

thanks for your help. i think i figured it out. ive got the 5k pot line and the output line tied together. i havnt gotten a chance to work on it so ill let you know.

i have no power to the .1uf at the begining and the juice gets to the 47uf and stops. i am getting no signal at all now

wat does 47uf do in the 5k pot?

it increases the gain of the circuit when you roll the 5k pot's knob all way up.

i have built this circuit in protoboard, using a 10k pot for the gain with a 12k resistor in paralel to it (that is the closest to 10k i got here), and it worked just fine.
