Had a stack of old Dell towers that had been sitting for a couple years and decided to finally scrap them.. While I was looking at one I noticed the little internal speaker that snaps into the front of the case had a little IC on the back of it.  So, I popped it out and found that it's a complete little 1.5w amplifier about the size of a nickle... LM4871 Amp 5.5V supply ~ 3W into 3Ω / 2W into 4Ω / 1.5W into 8Ω etc..

Easy enough to supply a steady 5.5v, fits in just about anything...  of course, I removed them form the crappy little speaker. The pcb is a little smaller than a standard Fender guitar pick.

Saw a bag of like 20 going for $10 online.. Figured I would give a heads up since a lot of people probably have an old Dell or 2 laying around collecting dust, waiting for the final walk to the curb by the trash can. ::)

Doesn't matter what you did to get it... If it sounds good, then it is good!
