Any recommendations for a really cheap programmer to program 8pin EEPROM with hex files? Needs to be able to program a 24LC32A for the FV-1. I had asked over at the Spin Semi forum, and got the specs, but I was wondering what you guys used and recommended for such a situation.

Thank you :)

I think the answers you got at the Spin forum were good.  :icon_wink:

Pickit 2 clones are super cheap and available on ebay.

I use a Willem programmer, which can also program a ton of other chips. Also very cheap. It might be more confusing than you want to mess with.

If you want cheaper, you can actually build your own. But IMO that's way too much headache to save 10 bucks.

Yeah, but when I ebay 'pickit2' I get sooo many things, some with a little box, some with an extra circuit board.. I'm not sure what I need..

Would something like this work?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Clone-Microchip-Development-Programmer-PICKIT-2-/290449082740?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a01d4974

It doesn't say it can do the EEPROM though. Or maybe this?

However, I get a lot of things like this.. do I need one of these too?

1. Ignore ebay
2. Go to http://www.microchip.com/ They make the 24lc32a and pickit 2
3. Email their support and ask them which is the cheapest unit to program a 24lc32a
4. Order that unit from them
