Storing!

Hello all

A friend brought me his broken t.c. electronics booster distortion.
It wouldn't switch anymore. Since he's got it on all the time, he asked me to hardwire it.
Looking in the pedal it became clear that without a schematic this would be a very long search.

So the question, does anyone have a scham?

thanks,
Eric

Do you mean this one? http://www.tcelectronic.com/classicboosterdistortion.asp From the picture it looks like a true bypass switch. Can you post some gut shots?

Its even an older one. http://www.gbase.com/gear/t-c-electronic-booster-l-t-c-electronic-boost
and the bypass must be some fetswitch. or something, really crowded pcb.

The one he gave me had seen a lot of milage!

Do you mean the effect works but it doesn't switch off anymore?

The switch looks pretty sturdy but it could be broken. Of course all I can do from here is guess.

I saw a Line6 uber metal distortion the other day. The box was built like a tank but an ant sized (SMD) chip and a chunky resistor were burnt beyond recognition. I hope it is nothing like that cause that would be almost impossible to fix. But if it still works than all you should worry about is the switching. Need more info and pics though ;).

If it's Fet switching in SMT...be glad it's on.
Alternate routing is an option in this case if it's on all the time.
Investigate the switch to see if it's a truebypass wiring assignment [use DMM, look for 2 of the lugs on the switch that connect to input jack tip, and output jack tip.

Here is the service manual if you still need it.

(Can't remember where I found this, but I will pass it along)

Those old TC pedals used to have an external bypass jack.
try whether it's working (you may need to pull off the switch if shorted).
