Looking for a layout

I've built a couple amps & want to do a stomper, one thing that seems to be taken for granted is how you hook up the battery, esp. when split voltage (4.5v) is required....most schems will just say "+4.5v" and be done with it.

Anyone got a schem with a layout that shows how the battery fits in ?
