try to look for the behringer hellbabe wah, i had one and the pot wqas replaced with an LED/LDR combination

switching was done also with an LED/LDR combo, though i did not try to figure out how it was done.  :icon_mrgreen:

i am pretty sure the morley uses a very sensitive weight sensing switch. i have heard reports from various people of hearing the wah switch on and off while they use them. i think you have to be MAnly when you wah them.

yep...

i couldnt get on with the switchless wah...annoying as @#$%..i like a definate on/off... not a surprise one.. :icon_mrgreen:

but yep.. they are indeed ldr...and no fasel/inductor...just an opamp...nice though!...

I'm not sure about the Classic, but the Bad Horsie uses two LED/LDR's, one for the variable resistance and one for switching.

ohh bad horsie is LDR/LED switching? how does it work?please ? ???

It's pretty neat how they have it physically laid out too. If you're interested, I can grab some gut shots. Not exactly DIY friendly, but that's why I grabbed a used one off of ebay for $30.

This may be due to the delay-off feature. When the wah is heel down, the effect will automatically switch off after a time ( the delay is settable by adjusting a trim pot). The default time is ~350ms if I remember.

I've never messed with any Morley wahs, because I have always been turned off by their massive size. One of those things would take up half of my pedal board!

StereoKills

Alright, so here are a few pictures of the switching section of my Bad Horsie.
The pedal is spring loaded to return to the heel down position, at this position no light passes through.
Pushing the toe down, it pulls the dividing plate up so light can shine through the slots.
The smaller slot separates the LED/LDR for the wah resistance, the larger slot separates the pair used for switching.

thanks evan.

wow thats simple then.....morley love a massive board dont they...its the same with the 'classic wah'..(which i have).
i like the no pot setup..very clean sweep...no crackles etc..

your morley looks very clean inside, do you polish it!.. :icon_mrgreen: :icon_wink:

@paul, yeah they are massive, great tiny little circuits to have fun with though... :icon_cool:

Wow This is very very very impressive! thank you so much Evan! the switching is the best! 2 Ldr the other on is for switching and the other is for the wah!

Thank!

Rob!  i really like the no pot wah too! lets try this :D

Glad I can help. I've always liked the Morley Wahs, quicker to jump into the action with switchless activation, and the LDR IMO is more reliable than a pot.

Now that I have it out, I may have to throw some mods I've had in mind for it in there......

cool...

ive messed around with the classic wah quite a bit on various projects, i like it better than the colorsound inductorless wah..

much better bypass level too, and general wah freq...nice and simple too!.

what mods were you going for?
