Rob,

After posting your changes... then posting "what you have at the moment," I am having a hard time where and how exactly you placed this into the circuit.

Your "what I have at the moment" circuit shows the RC to ground BEFORE the 1uF cap.

Your original circuit shows it AFTER the 1uF cap (C3 on your drawing)  ???

yeah sure, once i get it tweaked to where i'm happy enough.... i can't wait...but i'm holding back on my ready, fire, aim approach....

i have all the layout done, except for the tone ::)....to fit in a 1590b... :icon_cool:

the led 'red eyes' will be sound to light...(on seperate tiny pcb/vero).coz i'm an led addict.......just in time for halloween..hopefully.. :o

Yeah, as you say a simple resistor and cap to ground. The standard BSIAB uses a 10k/2n2 which would give a 7.2khz filter, this might just lose a little bit too much so I think I would start with a 7k2 resistor and a 2n2 cap that would give you about 10khz.

It might be a good idea to use a 10k or 20k pot and a 2n2 cap that way you could adjust the pot until it gives the results your looking for then replace the pot with the correct size resistor, or from that result work out the cutoff freq you need and adjust the resistor/cap values to match it.

^cool, good idea, i did whack both of those bsiab 10k's 22n's on there but it did cut off too much...

okey dokey...

i put that LP filter on 10k/2n2 and it sounds okay...ive been messing around with different RC'S,  but i thought i'd try a few different guitars with it as is...

i'll get my marshall back from my mates tonight and try that tomorrow...should be nice through an actual amp i think... :icon_twisted:

When you cascade the 2 - 10k/2n2 networks, the filter frequency drops by 65% and becomes 12 db/oct instead of the 6 db/oct of a single filter.  You can vary the values and get different slopes.  Or, when you get older, you won't need them because you can't hear the highs anyway.  ;)

Pre-build question...

I've listen to the sound clips on at one end it's more bluesy (I like) and at the other end it's more.......melt your face!

I'm looking for the more bluesy sound.....id the original BSIAB 2 better ? (for that kinda sound I mean)

Wow, it looks strange watching someone play a right handed guitar strung the same as a right handed guitar with the low E string on the bottom, ie not restrung for left handed but playing.
Or is the guitar the right way up and your standing on your head. I am also left handed but play a standard right handed guitar.

I like the sound with the added 10k/2n2 LF on the output.

edit - on watching the rest of the vid, it is indeed restrung ala Hendrix. My bad.

@alain:  yep go for the standard bsiab...i built it but it had tone issues that i didn't like...it was too dark for me and didn't sound like most demo's i'd heard, i would recommend that you breadboard it
and see what changes to make for 'your ears/style.. ;)..........or build this and  turn the gain down.. ;)

@mick, no bad!... its not re-strung, its a right hander upside down...i have it laying around for when those awkward right handers come round to jam...(hendrix restrung his though).. ;)
i had to do that when i first started playing, i had a right handed fender copy, but ive got used to playing upside down through playing (messing around ) on friends righties....

okay i got my amp back today whooohoooo :icon_twisted:......i took an emulated line out of my marshall avt 275 into a mixer.....

it has 2 distortion channels, 2 clean channels...i used 1 distorted channel and one clean channel....both channel EQ'S set exactly the same...
i used a clean channel for 'the breadboard distortion, and a distortion channel for another clip...guess which is which?... ;)

i like the tighter/more defined sound...it has the same gain as the marshall...and live (in my ears in a front room) it sounds pretty thick n chuggy...the cab giving it more bass i guess...(which i'm allowing for, taking muddiness into account)

hmmmm not bad...were getting there..... ;)


edit: hmmmm it did cross my mind to have 2 x 1 pot tone controls...switchable, for different styles.....hmmmmmm....

the earlier ones i tried out were a bit more 'open' ..hmmmm....i'll have a beer and ponder on that...i'll try it later....sip sip sip swig....... :P
