Skippy pots

I ordered some pots from mouser, and they don't turn smoothly.  Instead of turning smoothly, like most pots (as from Small Bear), they jump, like they have dents, to around 11-15 places.  They still work (although the last one got fried when I tried to use it in a pedal, but I'm pretty sure that was a short) but they aren't as fun to use.

Is this the kind mouser sells?  Are these defective?  What's up with that?

You got the ones with detents. Some consider this a feature since you can reliably recall settings with those pots.

I don't use them, but I could see how they could be useful for certain settings.

They will work.
