Hi,

I'm looking to build an effects unit for "modern metal". I guess the sort of ballpark I'm in is something like the Blackstar HT-DistX.

Just wondering what schematic/kits people would recommend?

From my own explorations it looks like the Shaka Express is close to what I want - anything else I should consider?

Cheers,

Chris

I forgot to mention that I'm planning on running the pedal into a clean amp.

Popular high gain circuits to check out:
Dr. Boogie (jfet)
GTFO tube pedal (high voltage)
There are other jfet pedals as well, some based on the SLO, Krankenstein, and the Diezel amps.

How deep do you want to go? I'd suggest a high voltage tube based circuit before I'd suggest a low voltage pedal, but not everyone is comfortable working with 200 to 400v (which can kill you), so IMO that's a serious point to consider.

+1 for the Dr. Boogie. Check out frequencycentral's layout with onboard pots.
