Hello All, newbie here.
I recently pirchased a Cabotron magnetic drum echo which I suppose to be a part of an old studio console or mixer coming from the 70s. The mechanical part seems to be like a Meazzi Echomatic or a Davoli Echo 2K magnetic deum echo unit:

Since my own unit produces a "wet only" effect, I built a send-return pedal starting from a GGG mini mixer with an NE5532 op amp. Then I added a jfet buffer/impedence adapter between the guitar input and the send output going to the Cabotron input. Here are the links to the schematics:

mini mixer :  http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/diagrams/mixer_sc.gif
jfet buffer(*) : http://www.muzique.com/lab/buffers.htm

(*) I built the jfet buffer with the Vr gate resistor connected to the mini mixer VRef at the C6 positive/+ pin.

Here is a video featuring my Cabotron unit and the stomp:

My questions:

1) I need of some help on the head allignment! Is there a technique or a method for doing this?? I made some progresses during last weeks (my previous post here http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=97747.0 - I hope you can hear the difference with latest video above) manually moving the heads until all the reading heads was producing a similar sound and adjusting the erase and the recording heads until the feedback oscillation effect come back, nothing else

2) It's a transistor unit and there are a lot of electrolytic caps inside it. Do you think I must re-cap it?? Does the re-cap process involves all the caps in the unit (e.g. the big ones near the power transfomers too??)?? Any note about the new caps which I have to purchase (manufaturer, etc...)?

3) Do you have schematics of the unit? I wrote to Cabotron and they sayd that it's too old and they donn't have it in their archeve

4) Any note or suggestion about the pedal?

Thank you in advance for your help. Any suggesstion, comment or note will be appreciated.
