CAN ANYONE HELP ME??!!

I have a jh-2 FF that I have built that does not play any fuzz. I used a MM and cannot find anything wrong (no shorts, the pots work well. I trimpot Q2's collector to bring up the voltage and that gave me sound (clear, undistorted, though).  Does anyone have any suggestions to help me out??

make sure your trannys are in the right direction.  sometimes trannys w/ high leakage will work both ways.. but you won't get the gain desired.

The transistors are  correct.  I've must have checked them over 50 times.  They don't make the same tranny's with different pinouts??? (using MPS-a18 trannys)

Is the 20uF cap in the right way and in the right place?  Try putting another large cap (20uF or whatever) right from the emitter of Q2 to ground.

jflam

are you refering to the cap that connects to the 1k "fuzz" pot??  I've changed it.

jflam

Also, should Q1's emitter or collector be connected to ground.  I have the emitter grounded, which I believe is correct.

Chris R

yep.. the collector goes to Q2.

maybe if you posted your voltages of each pin of the trannys well have a better idea of whats going on.

These are the values of the trannys (neg lead to ground)

Q1 C: -4.6
     E: -0 (grounded)
     B: -4.07

Q2 C: -5.3
     E: -2.6
     B: -4.7
