Looking to build something like a BOSS FS-5U, it seems to be a sort of momentary footswitch, but is there anything in there I just don't see? Or is it just that? A momentary footswitch connecting both conductors of the cable?

Maybe. What are you going to use it for?
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.
