I have been itching to tear into several projects, but have been decided to set them aside to focus my attention on enclosure cosmetics.

Here is an approach to labeling painted Hammond enclosures that I tried and had exceptional results with.   It may not be anything new to y'all, but it worked so well that I thought I would pass it along just in case.

I purchased a specialty paper called TTS (toner transfer system) paper and a clear TRF foil (toner reactive foil) from a guy named Frank Miller.  His company is called Pulsar  www.pulsar.gs

Basically, I laser printed my labels onto the TTS paper.

Cut a piece of the clear TRF foil, laid it over the label, and passed the combination through a laminator.  (You could also use an iron)

I dropped the label and clear TRF into a dish of water.  The TTS paper and clear TRF roll up, then unfolds.  When it unfolds, the clear TRF releases from the TTS paper and the toner transfered to the clear TRF foil.

I patted the water off the clear foil, then applied one QUICK and LIGHT dusting of temporary fabric adhesive (also purchased from Pulsar) to the toner side of the clear foil.

I pressed the foil down over the painted enclosure, waited about two minutes and peeled the clear foil back 180 degrees over itself.

A quick wipe with goo gone removed any remaining residue (some tries, there was no appreciable amount of residue), and I had successfully transfered the toner to the enclosure.  This works (in theory) with color as well as black toner, but I have not tried it yet.  Apply your favorite protective overcoat and you are done!

This approach is time consuming and takes practice, but the results look fantastic when you get the hang of it.  The results look as if you had somehow laser printed directly onto your enclosure.

Has anyone else had any experience with these products or similar techniques?

Anyone else use products from Pulsar?

Thanks for your time

I will try to snap a few digital pix tonight or tommorrow.

Ok. I took a picture of my first box, but after reading the instructions on how to link an image, I realize that I do not have any way to link it up.   Sorry,

If there was any interest, I could do a photoessay on my hacked technique.  However, I do not have access to any web hosting.  If anyone would be willing to look at it and/or host it, I would be happy to email them.

Best regards
