ok this circuit doesn't work i mean it passes the circuit volume. but doesnt ' amplifiy it.  the freq. generator is louder than the 380..  it doesnt' make a difference that the diodes are in or out. of circuit.  . i am wondering maybe it needs some more push that the generator can't deliver.???  thats the only thing i can think off.  any help

I can't make heads or tails of that one but,
I figured out the last one [blinking LED], my family and neighbors are impressed as I am [I'm also delighted and plan another very soon] that simple like tthat can make the LED go on and off at wide speed ranges !!!
Now I need to figure how to use the LDR, I measured one that goes down to 7.5k that I got from RS...seems like I measured another one just like it and it didn't go anywhere near that low...as you can tell I need to familiarize myself more with implemmenting these LDR's.
I couldn't believe the 7k5 reading...if that's right seems like a [pretty darn good] trmeolo type action is only a few connections away!!!??
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

cool i am glad you got it working..  hey are you going to etch a board for that ????

Ansil,
Instead of using the NON INV IN for for your input, use the INV IN, then connect pin 2 and your output with  a 1 meg resistor. By pass pin 2 with a 20 pf cap and 12k resistor to ground. You might want to also run a res and cap in series to ground directly from pin 8. Using the 1 M res as a pos. feedback loop shoul give you a gain some where around 200.

thanks jered. i was just wondering why it is acting so strange.  it normally doesn't need any thing like that..  its supposed to have an internal gain of 34 so i guess it needs a hotter signal than the 555 can provide.  that or its blown.
