Hi,
i'm an ignorant regarding fuzzes and old transistors technology...i have some of these around, and like to know if it's worth start to build a fuzz with them...

Thanks

I'd say they'd be good for an NPN Fuzz Face. Probably make a mellow-sounding NPN Boost or LPB as well.

With the Fuzz Face, you'll need to mess around with the biasing of Q2, though. Really need that 4.5 volts on the collector of Q2 for it to sound good.

Test the hfe and leakage if you can. That's pretty easy to do even without a transistor tester if you use the setup described at Technology of the Fuzz Face.

Thanks for your kind replies... :D

I  use  the  AC187K  in  my  Fat-Face  as  a  second  transistor.
First  one  is  BC109.
AC187K  really  rocks in  FF  clone. There  is  so  much  gain  that
you  can't  make the  clean  sound  with  guitar  volume  pot.
What  you  get  is  excellent  crunch  for  riffs and  blues  leads  and
when you  max  the  guitar  pot,  sound  become  so  fat  with
so  much  sustain - perfect  for  leads. Sound  is  similar  to
my  RAT  clone. I  call  it  Fat-Face ( RAT-Face  could  be  better  name ;-)  ).
It  is  really  amazing  what  you  can  get  with  just  two  transistors
and  couple  of  other  parts.
