Is it possible to fry LEDs?

Some guy said to use a 680k resistor on the first page so that's what I did!

Yeah I was thinking, that's an insane amount of light from (I assume you're running it off 9v) 0.1mA! a 680 ohm resistor makes sense though.
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

I just took out the 680k and put in a 4k7 and it's emitting a normal amount of light now    I might go find a 8k2 or somethin' and try that too.

I can't believe I nearly fried a second (and more expensive) set of LEDs!  At least they all still work this time.

680K would be blue-gray-yellow and with that much resistance you would not get any light at all.

680 ohms = blue-gray-brown
That's the absolute minimum value I would try. I have a feeling you want something in the 4.7K to 22K range.

AHH GEEZ.

Thanks Peter.  I double checked the 680k Resistor with my multimeter, and it was -indeed- a 680ohm.  It must have been mixed in with my 680k's.  All these solder fumes have fried my brain.

I'll try the values you suggested.  Thanks...and now I think I'll get some fresh air.

I'm thinking of taking the amp head out of my practice amp's enclosure thing and just having the speaker by itself. That way I can use both my SS amp and my future FireFly rev. II tube amp without having to buy another expensive speaker... :? It would also mean that I can use 100 ohm 1/4W resistors ghehehe

Just be carefull not to burn your house or anything... I wouldn't do this smoke signals thing on any amp I really care about (it did not brake my smaal solid state combo though). Who knows what hapens to the ompedance of the resistor when you overheat it.

It was kind of funny though, but smelled bit bad.

Maybe it's time to design a smoke machine that gets turned on harder the louder you play

 Nah you get what I mean...
