have not bought switches in a while

noticed you can get cheap jobbies on ebay for $2

anyone have any experience with these?

im guessing some plant got hold of the mould and is running them off by the thousands

alternatively the alpha ones go for around $5. worth the price difference?

cheers

Tbh I think for something that gets used as much as the footswitch it's best to go for an Alpha, and a DPDT w/Millenium preferably... they feel better to me :)

I tend to get my footswitches off Ebay, they seem to be so damn expensive everywhere else. Haven't had any problems so far but haven't toured some of these pedals enough to give them a real good kicking. Time will tell i guess but so far i can't see any issues

I'm a cheapskate.
Pick the cheapest Chinese eBay seller and click buy.
Only had 1 go bad from the get go and another that I overheated the epoxy.
I figure they're all made in the same place virtually so.
The qaulity of the latest batch is better i.e. Less epoxy.
Ma throats as dry as an overcooked kipper.

Smoke me a Kipper. I'll be back for breakfast.

I bought about 10 switches on ebay maybe 7 or 8 years ago. I think I paid 30 or 40 EUR. They still work and are still in use. Some of them were resalvaged, upcycled, downcycled numerous times and they all still work.

Just recently I bought a batch of 20 switches on Aliexpress, just like someone said before - just picked the cheapest one. I think it was $1.80 for a piece, so I paid around $30. I will see how these perform when they arrive.

Nowadays it doesn't really matter what the price is, it could all be just the same item. I don't think there's a sweat-shop for switches, while Alpha or Carling on the other side are keeping their production somewhere in the Tibetan mountains where monks use their bare feet to test the comfort of the switches.

I am not saying that no name switches are actually Alphas that a worker puts in his pocket when no one is looking, and then sells them. And sure, might just be nickel-plated copper on the metal parts where others might have nickel-plated steel housings and such. But if the price is really low and they look okay, there has to be a certain demand for them. They wouldn't sell for cheap if the company would only make 10 of them a week and not have someone who needs them. And I don't think they put them in Chinese toys for children either. Maybe they go on a dashboard of some Russian tank?  :icon_mrgreen:
