Does anyone know the difference between the AC128 and AC128K transistors?

Thanks in advance

Thomas P.

they are the same except that the AC128k has a heatsink around it

To me it seems like a heat sink would be better, I wonder if that would help with the temperature flakyness of a Fuzz Face.  Do you think that the AC128K would have some other weird effect in a Fuzz Face?

Thanks again

Thomas P.

I don't think that it has any effect except that it might be easier to solder.
What you shouldn't forget is that a heatsink isn't some kind of 'diode' which works only in one way - it work in both ways. If you have a very high 'outside' temperature a heasink makes it easier for the device to warm up... but this doesn't matter here.
I believe there will be no difference.

Hi,
For my part all the AC 128K i've bought are over the gain range to build good biaised Fuzz-Faces .They are all over 200Hfe ,i think it's because this models with heatsink are made for high-gain amplifier systems .
If you find some pieces with  right Hfe :why not !

This is the funniest sentence I have read in ages!

Yeah thats funny !   And are silicon women less warm but tighter and maybe less prone to leakage. Sorry I couldn't resist that one.

Posts like that are going to make sure that we don't get any involvement from the very few women stompbox designers and builders that there are. :(

Please show greater respect.

Hi,
I ever read this expression.
Is it  from  Jacques Stomboxes website?Be careful to mention his name !
It's a great man
