Ben, go to this web site, Lauriers Handy dandy little circuits, he has some of his own circuit switching ideas. One of  them I am building, The sequential switching circuit. Click circuits  and you should see a drop down menu, there are various forms using everything from2p6throw rotary switches to cd 4053 etc. The cool thing about the sequential switching circuit..... it has four loops [1 bypass], 3 fx in/ outs. The all have there own led indicators... one momentary no push switch scroll through the four loops. You can wire it and hook the loops 234 internally and have one bypass or use the exterally mounted jacks. and patch cable to your effects board. He is a really helpful guy and will answer your e-mail if you get stumped. Ona side note the chips are marked wrong on the circuit [4066 is marked 4017 and the 4017 is marked 4066] but it doesnt effect the integrity of the circuit. I allready have the circuit built and I am going to put it in an enclosure today. I will give a build report when I am done. The chips of course are complimentary of TEXAS INSTRUMENTS free sample, order today and you can have them by next week. One more thing this is just the project I have been waiting for. I am going to build another circuit and use it to house my double d dual preamp/ amz mos booster/ this would give me two very complimentary circuits in one container with leds/ with bypass/ with one external fx loop. Oh yes if your electronically challenged like me it has a real big picture to look at. I hope this has been of some help. R G has some switching ideas using an 4053 that I may incorporate. I personally would rather get the free chips rather than plop down the money  for 3pdts........ nuff said have a good day, oh yes go to maxon also.

Yeah, Donald, that circuit is cool--rather similar to some of the stuff at RG's site and an article that I think is at Mark Hammer's site, but nicley wrapped up with a bow.  One of these days I will put one of those together as a fuzz switcher.  It's a nice pedalboard project, and ought also to combine well with the Parallelyzer project at JD Sleep's site, too.

Be aware that I know that the 4066 board at his site is flawed.

After a quick lookin @ the HandyDandyCircuits page,
i dont C anything that will do what Ben wants--
that is, If U have 4 effects, turn off all , leave 1 on---with LED.
The page mentions  a *relay*, but, can't do dat :)
The 4017 idea is a sequencer.
Each press goes 2 the next.
So U couldn't go from effect2 2 effect4 directly.
Only an ASMOP-type switching system would fit the bill.
Can still use 3PDT for the LEDs, but the ASMOPcircuit
could even eliminate the 3PDTs by using touchswitches.
Even cheapo momentary sws could B used.
Nice link nontheless.
Liked the Roland sustain

Hey tone god or tone man. I am not to sharp when it comes to 4066, but if there is something wrong with the circuit please let me know. I just got it built last night, box/4 sets of jacks/ circuit built/leds mounted.  :(  no circuit switching/ no leds lit/ the only thing I get is #1 bypass Is there someway I can use what I have built with some minor circuit changes. He has answered my preliminary questions about a few things but I havent contacted him anymore. What wrong with the circuit as it is? I really want this thing to work. What I have on hand are 4016 4013 and some other assorted 4xxx and maxon chips[ thanks maxon] I am determined to get this thing going, I guess I need to study R G  stuff somemore........I would settle for guitar in, with  2 loops but it has to be all cmos.

Don,
did U build the 4066/4049 switcher?
also, did U build the 4011 circuit 2 switch it?
just downloaded the pdf from HDC.
2 late/tired 2nite 2 study it.
did U read the note by TG on the 4066 bad pcb?
my first thoughts R that since 4016/4066 is operating @ 9VDC,
U have 2 make sure U have *only* ac going into the CMOS.
input & output caps with bleeder resistors do this.
1 last note--not really sure of running a LED thru a CMOS gate.
HDC does it in the 4053 3PDT schemo.
will get back 2ya 2morrow.

If my memory serves me right the designer grounded the inputs of the unused gates, which is a good thing, but for some silly reason grounded the outputs too. Thats a bad thing. If you have already made the PCBs then break the connections on all the unused output pins but leave the inputs still tided to ground or V+. Do a search through previous threads to be sure.

If you haven't made any boards you can use the ones at my site. They have been used by many people.
