Clay,

Nicely drawn schematic!

I'll leave the comments at that.

Hi,

increase the resistor (1K) between Pin6 and Pin7 to 5K6 to geht stronger
Output. But You have to increase the 51pF Cap in the Clipping Stage to 200p to prevent noise.

I tested out a build almost like that the last week.
Great sounding cct. All opinion, I just happened to really like noodling, chording, and diddling with TS tone...after a short time using one, I became endeared with it.
Kind of a wierd thing "Tube Screamer", I haven't heard anything that sounds like screaming come from it !!!...The Tube part ...ok...but 'Screamer'?...what a great name?...Seems like an intentional overstatement of what the pedal can do...At least that was My first impression...long long ago when it was presented to me by a great rep. from Akron Music. The TS was passed over for a more intense effect, the MXR Dist+.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

REALLL creative!   Feels like I have never seen a circuit like that before.  I think you guys who frequent this forum have done things on your TS9 circuits that are equally good if not better for tone.

I'm finding that it's beneficial to get away from 1N914 diodes and RC4558 op amps.  These days, there are much better IC's available than 4558 types.

I have a Vox V810 and I did som creative diode modding using 1N4007 diodes and series resistor, a tone control mod. Getting all of the 914's out of there made the biggest difference to me, and it sounded nice with the 4558, sounded smoother with a TL082, less harsh with a TLC272, but a little more noisey, and absolutely beautiful when I got some OP275 from Analog Devices.  I am so glad I put a socket on that PCB, because changing an IC is just about as easy as replacing a battery.  The OP275 was the final modification that took that subtle "fizzy" overtone out of it.  It now sounds quite nice.

If that's what it is, they are fairly expensive in the US too (not $900, but...).

It's really interesting to me how many of the boutique overdrives (some very high priced) that hype all kinds of tone-nirvana are basically Tube Screamer tweaks. People are getting a lot of mileage out of that circuit.

No, I've never posted or shared my "special" schems. And I won't.
If anyone wants a Klon schem they're going to have to ruin their own pedal like I did... (most of you, honestly, wouldn't be that impressed with it anyway).

That gave me an idea, why don't we create a fund to buy pedals that we want reversed engineered, the pedal will go to someone capable of doing the reversing and posting a schem/PCB and that person gets to keep the pedal for his trouble.
We would of course vote on a list of pedals and then monthly or bi-monthly send money, in the order of 2/3 bucks a head would sufice assuming 100 people in the project.
Just an idea.

YEP  just like a fuzz face

BTW i like 1n914 diodes, and symetrical clipping.

i dont like led's in a TS circuit.

Clay,

Nice job on the schematic.  The 51pF cap in the clipping section is actually 56pf.

What do you mean the tour is over?

I suppose it just goes to show what a great little circuit it is .... even if your opamp's only a JRC4558 not a JRC4558D (or a Brown Butt or whatever they're called) ;-)
