2kW peak is enough..??

Actually, I think I need 1.21 gigawatts and I might have to use the local clock tower to harness a lightening bolt.

So in this case , how/where do I attach the capacitor and piezo?

if you are running a piezo disc from a 555, you don't need any power. put the disc into the bottom of a 35mm film canister, and then POINT IT at something. see if it's loud enough then.
An administration error has occcured. Please wait.

I considered something like that, but it needs to be as inconspicuous as possible. It may have to be duct taped to the bottom of a counter or hid in a tight space. I think I have some of those shot glass size plastic solo cups. i could experiment with one of those.

Long long ago, in a galaxy far far away (Usenet) I asked a similar question of "how to get longer delay (like 16-24 hours) out of a 555?".  My goal was to get a long delay, then briefly power on some noisemaker to annoy some co-workers.

The answer was ultimately to use something like a CD4060 (binary ripple counter).  I tried digging up the old Usenet post (someone there even provided a schem) but I've been unsuccessful.

In any event, to get longer delays, maybe having a CD4060 doing the count/delay part, and having it briefly turn on whatever circuit to do the annoying is the key?

for 16-24 hours, any mechanical alarm clock should be fine.. :icon_wink:

Check out the µA2240 which is a 555 - type astable oscillator attached to an 8-stage divider with open collector outputs.  I once replaced the guts of an organ with a board containing 12 of these.
