just finished my sd-1 mod from fuzzcentral,my sd-1 got no sound when it's on,it's ok when it's bypass.....can anyone help ? how can i test those transistors ? hopefully they are not killed by my solder (only 25w). :(

Jered

Test your votages at your chip and post them here or better yet build an audio probe and you can figure it out yourself very easily and the probe is simple to build, and you probably have everything you need lying on your bench. Check the FAQ for build instructions.

hello jered, how can i test the voltage ? can u kindly show me step by step ? i'm going to make an audio probe tomorrow, thanks a lot

put an alligator clip between where you're soldering on the leg of the Q and the body, this greatly reduces the chance of partial fry/fry of silicon or Ge. ...dont get the clip stuck tho.

Of Course we use sockets for opamps...

Did you pcb it or perf it?

just wonder if i replace C7,C10 in sd-1 with non polar one as mentioned in fuzzcentral, does it mean the caps can be placed in either way ? thanks guys

Phorhas

Yes, those caps (sometimes call NP and sometimes BP) are place just like regular caps... either way
