I've just finished a layout of a univox superfuzz useing expresspcb and the bloody thing had dots all over it which i cant rid of. (i knew they would make the board for you but i also thought u could make your own using the program).

so my question is, what other free software could i use

also i would like something that could be used with futurlec (prototype boards look cheap)

I'm glad you brought that up~!! I have the same problem and I had to take white out to get rid of the dots so that I could make a P/N/Peel version of my layout.
I believe the dots are so that you can't use the layout to make your own PCB and have to go throught Express PCB to get them.
They are a great company with great customer service but when you're only doing one or two of something the cost doesn't quite compute.

Eagle works pretty decent for the simpler circuits.

Does anyone use the "link schematic" option with PCBexpress?  The biggest problem I have with making layouts is making sure I've connected everything properly...and I've seen a few programs that link components with lines to show which components need to be connected to what according to the schematic.

I use it, it's my favourite feature so far. You gotta make sure you got the schem right  :roll:  :evil:

Starting to learn that function now.  WHat happens if you can't find the right component from the list?  How do you get around that?
