Im battling with trying to get the Midi OCtopus to switch my old pre-midi Carvin Quad X preamp.

Im told the QuadX should respond to momentary switching. Connecting tip to ground on each channel works fine. But on the FX, Reverb, and EQ sections, connecting tip to ground only turns that function ON again. Tipping to ground once more doesnt turn it OFF.
This isnt an issue for the channel switching as that changes whenever another channel is chosen (you cant turn a channel OFF)

Has anyone got any ideas WHY the Octopus wont change the QuadX?

Both use jack input/outputs so I was under the impression they sue the same switching system

Okay , just found out the Octopus does latching switching and I need momentary switching.

Does anyone know what kind of circuit I can build to convert from a latched switch to a momentary pulse!?

Here is what is happening exactly.

on the Octopus side:
1. Switches A-H will activate ON from OFF status, all of the bottom 3 'channels' (reverb,FX,Graphic EQ).
2. None of the switches (relay included) will switch ON status to OFF. I have found no way to switch to off status. I have tried connecting tip to ground, latching, even momentary touches.
3. On the top row, only H (relay) will switch CH1 to CH2, or CH2 to CH4 etc (depending on where H is plugged into). It would appear that if I had 4 relays exactly like this Id be okay to do simple channel switching.

QuadX side:
I can switch all 7 'channels' to ON (from OFF) status by shorting tip to ground, but cannot set any to OFF.

Measurements:
The Octopus with a stereo plug in its outputs:
(tip to earth) = 50mV when off, and 0.61dcV when ON
73mVAC exists as well when OFF
(ring to earth) = 4.98dcV when both OFF and ON (0mVAC)

The Octopus with a mono plug in its output:
(tip) = -5mV when off, and 0.61dcV when ON
125mVAC exists as well when OFF

Quad X
Mono jack plugs only:
Bottom 3 'channels'
(tip to earth) = +12.7dcV
Top 4 channels
(tip to earth) = -12.7dcV

right ;) I am open to any and ALL ideas & comments.

Can anyone advise me how to convert a latching switch to momentary?
