I'm looking around for a 5-string bass, and I'm not satisifed with the selection at musicians friend, samash, or music123. What places have you all found that you've liked?

aron

Well those are the major ones. I like Zzounds because of the low shipping and great service, but don't know about their bass selection.

personally - I'd never buy an instrument without playing it first..
even within mass-produced instruments, there seems to be quite a bit of variance from one to another.

That's just me, though - I'm picky (pun intended) about my guitars.

http://www.fatdawg.com/  has a decent selection of guitars at rather ridiculous prices.  He also has a one-week, no-questions-asked return policy.

Can't vouch for them personally, but it's hard to beat Rondo Music for price:

$150.00 for a 5-string bass? Sheesh!

I got myself a Toby Pro5 from Musicyo.com.
I played a couple of Tobias basses owned by a friend, and this one is up to all my expectations. Great bass for waay too little money.
