Hey all,
im sure this post has been done before, but i want to get a fresh veiw of peoples opinions...
So the options are(please add more i dont know of)
Si Fuzz Face
Ge Fuzz Face
Hornet
RM Classic Fuzz
Miss Piggy
Axis Face si
Axis Fave ge
Lava Rim

Thats all i can think of right now, but i know there are tons more. Are there any that do low gain blues sound really well?
Anyway, what in your humble/not so humble opinion is the best?
Thanx,

Well, yes and yes, depending on what tone it is you want.
You can add the Mosface, and the EZ Face to those.
This week I built a Mosface and a MultiFace...
The Mos has 2N7000 transistors, Gain Sustain monster, good guitar vol rolloff effect, excellent harmonic accentuation
the Multi has a low gain tophat Si Q1, and BC108c for Q2, high gain also, different sound...you can use a wide variety of transistors in this one, including Mosfets, I also trimpotted Q2 collector, sockets also for input, output, polarized cap,
 incap .068uf
 outcap.1uf
 22uf Electrolytic
With the wide variaibility of the Multi-Face, you should be able to get most FF type tones with it.
Also, having a tunable bias FF [Q2  emitter and or collector trimpot's'] you can simply reverse polarity of the power supply and polarized cap, you can use Ge PNP transistors.
Results may very quite widely, depending on what type of amp i'ts driving.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

If this is the main sound you want, I'm not sure FF type circuits are the first thing I would think of. But a Ge FF can't be beat for it among those you listed, fickle beast though it is.  The rest of your setup would factor in as well.

Completely agree, just because Ge transistors have the lowest gain. You should work with trimpots, though, to get the right collector voltage.
I have experimented with different parallel input caps in series with a 1M pot. This way, lowering the pots brings more adjustable bass in the distortion.
