Ok let's try and get a new idea or thought going for more Page like tones.  I just read an article in Guitarist Mag (UK) about Mayers Concorde + treble booster.  Here are the little notes I made from reading the article.  Mayer talks about Page using the thing back in the day.  So some summeries here.

1 Circuit is a combination Silicon and Germanium tranny job.
2 Has a Passive EQ section before the treble boost section.
3 Drive control potentiometer sets the level of the Silicon stage which in turn drives the Germanium output stage hitting it with much more signal level than would be available from your guitar PUPS.
4 Output potentiomter controls the output level going to the amp.
5 In between lies the tone potentiometer (a passive EQ)

Now the guys at guitarist mag state that their only complaint was that they wished that they could have gotten more bite from the Tone control section.

Here is the PDF manual for the Concorde +
http://www.roger-mayer.co.uk/concorde+.pdf

and the site info on it
http://www.roger-mayer.co.uk/concorde.htm

Let's not forget the email from Mayer I got stating that the circuit is loosely based on the Maestro Fuzztone.

So I'm sure there is one or two brainiacs here that can figure out what Mayer is doing here.

There are folks here alot alot smarter than me about this stuff that can figure out the Jimmy Page fuzz/treble booster that Mayer made.

I don't know if I have helped out any of us Led heads get any closer to at least Pages Effects sound but I hope I have.

Any of you smart Led heads that think you have got it figured out please share your thoughts with the rest of us who are electrical challenged.

You guys have a nice day :)

hair force one

so it's only a sili booster driving a germi booster?
In this case i could try:

[eq]---[EHlpb1]---[eq]---[Rangemaster]...

Bluesgeetar

So are you saying like a tone control then the LpB1 then another tone control then the rangemaster circuit all in one pedal?

LPB > TC > RM...sounds like a winner!!!
Of course I just thouhgt also
LPB [with tunable or switchable HP filter input cap] > Fixed LP Filter [cap to ground]  > TBP Switched Adjustable Notch Filter > More adjustable  high End rolloff.
Or put your TC on one side of a DPDT, and the Notch Filter on the other side, also a 'drawbridge' across the notch filter [very simple bypass switch].

Hello Hello-
Abput 2 years ago I put together a Fuzz Face-type circuit with a small value input cap and some other changes to see if I could come up with  a
"gainier"  treble booster.  I wish I'd saved it  [or at least some notes...].
Sure would like to see a schematic for the Concord!
Brian.

Man you and me both!  The funny thing is that I know that there are familiar type circuits floating around here.  What about the silicon/germanium fuzz face.  Isn't there one of those around here?  Dickin around with that circuit and trying to implement the same things on the Concorde should produce a close circuit of the concorde.

Hmmmm time to ponder. :?

I think Arons Hornet would be a good place to start.  Just need the Si tranny first instead of the germ.  Then Dicker from there.

Multi Face, I used trim for Q2 collector also. Seems to work great and gets bias on different transistor types [all the different ones I tried}.
EZ Face is an Si/Ge FF

Hello Hello--
A couple of weeks ago    I mentioned the idea of using a piggy-backed si pair along with a germ. but nobody picked up on it.  Wonder if this could be applied in this case......
Brian.

Hello Hello Bluesgeetar--
Couldn't resist........I had to post a new thread on this thing!!
