I've looked at action-electronics for their modular enclosures. Does anyone know of better resources, cheaper, etc. for enclosures?

hammond 1590B or 1590BB are good choices. Smallbear sells the taiwanese versions of these and then some, the B being $6.25 and the BB $8 or 10? BB is bigger than the B

Check out circuitspecialists.com.   I beleive you can get 10 standard sized cast aluminum boxes for less than $40. They do charge around $10 for shipping though. There is a nice free multimeter with a $50 order though.

Keep in mind the dimensions on the small ones. I've thought about ordering a batch of 4 or 5 to put smaller projects in, but at 3.9"x2"x1", it's slightly smaller than a 1590B at 4.39"x2.34"x1.06" if you're used to those Not a ton of difference; a half inch on either side, but just something to take account of.

Thanks for the references and links, I appreciate it. I'm looking for those modular "keyboard" or desktop type boxes. Anyone use them?

Are you talking about something like the hammond 1456 series?

Or maybe the Hammond 500/519 series (has some steel)?

Sorry, I don't know of cheap places to get those. Mouser has them but they're not exactly cheap.
