so..

this is -
the casing says : Crybaby Super
model no. or something: 250.422
date of producition: unkown - it has different rubber feet than the new crybabies... i suspect it's around 15 or more years old.
the pcb info: i put the dpdt bypass switch, used to be a spdt, the circuit is standard wah layout except no buffet circuit! (even though it wasn't true bypassed), used to have tropical fish capacitors, but i put the new ones instead, dunno why.
the board was traced by myself 2 years ago so i could compare it to other wah schems.
i changed both of the transistors, they are mps-a18 if i recollect, they were and are still
and now the inductor: has some similarites to with the Fasel presented in this topic, but mine isn't labeled fasel, instead it has a wierd logo or a sign - very similiar to the TDK sign (TDK is the company that makes audio tapes, video tapes and stuff like that )...
on the back of the inductor it's printed: 500

so what do i have here?

here's a pic of the guts, i took it a few weeks ago, and sister went to the seaside and took the camera so now i can't make a more decent pic of it..
anyways
here it is:

i did modded the pedal - vocal mod i think or something - the caps are prolly original values..
the pedal sounds good but a bit different from the new crybabies...
the pot is 100k lin since the original was almost destroyed..

i'm thinking about buying an original or a better replacement pot for this thing... is it worth it? will i notice the difference?

cheers!

ps: i bought it (the wah wah) 3 years ago for around 10$ or something, it was malfunctioned.. i replaced the broken spdt and a broken pot and it wailed from that moment on...

Looks remarkably similar to a red Fasel.

Lonestarjohnny

looks just like the TDK that's in my old Crybaby, mine's about 35 or so years old.

I think its a japanese copy of a Fasel. My Maxon Blubbler Wah Crying Baby Machine has an inductor that looks like that(like a Fasel)but on the back it says "620" and on the front it has a triangular shaped emblem.

old wah pots just go scritchy, [i suppose a wiper could break off or something] other than that they work only as a potentiometer...the only real 'improvement' a wah pot can do [as long as the R value is 'right'] is reduce the scritch from an old worn out pot.
I wouldn't mess with changing the pot till the scritching sound bothers you.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

You know, It seems like Dunlop has pulled another of it's "hendrix special wah wah" type pedals here. They seem to have put a new inductor into the wah, to give it new "tone" and then tried to package it as a brand new wah. Since the inductor had to be something new, and due to the uncertainty of the new product, they most likely chose a cheap asian inductor maker(as they end up cheaper then american ones or european ones). TDK most likely happened to be the one that they picked. That's my conclusion anyway.

That's a mid '70s - early '80s Jen Crybaby Super, nothing to do with Dunlop.  The pot looks like a conductive plastic Vishay or Spectrol, so you would probably get a better sweep with a "proper" wah pot.
