I just came across a heaping helping of 26 guage wire, most of the misc faqs and/or BOMs I've read call for 24 guage wire... would using this smaller size cause problems?

might not be as sturdy.  shoudlnt be much of a problem.

i have some 18guage if you want it. i got a couple hundred feet at last check. i use it for my tube amps. its silver and shielded.

Thanks for the offer, I think I'll try to use this 26 awg stuff up if it will work...

But that does bring up a good point, I was planning on building a tube amp at some point in the future (www.ax84.com), is 18 guage what's recommended for the kinds of voltage that's running around inside those things?

18ga is used alot for the heater wiring. Don't worry about the 26ga., it'll be fine. I have an old Roger Mayer Classic Fuzz that has what looks like 28ga., and it works fine. I use 22ga. stranded, and pre-tinned.

yea you're using the right size - anything thats free :-D

I use mostly power supply wire - 20 - 24 gauge, mostly 22.  Pretty colors.  Stripped 3 power supplies :-D

I got some stuff that goes tight through a perf hole, insulation and all.
I like it cause I can de-insulate just the end and solder it to say an OA pin, then stuff it through a hole near the edge of the board for stability.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

I use 24 gauge wire mostly and 22 gauge for other connections like switch, Jacks... 26 gauge is a good option also, more thin than 26 is very weak.
