Two noobish punch-in-the-face questions

first of all, i dont have the 330K resistor, but i do have a 300K and a 33K, could i put them in series? would the 3K of resistance matter that much? also, imagine that I'm holding the transistor with the flat side facing me, the rounded side facing away, what would the leads be labeled in that instance? thanks guys!

Are in reads, probably take 'while' to find that one...but of course you get the rest of the 9 yards with that...
 Anyway, for general speaking, if your'e within + or - 10% of the stated value, it won't make any/much difference.
 330k to 333k is a difference of what...math...anyway it's around only 1% difference there, that's tighter than the 5% tolerance resistors you're probably using anyway.

The use of the third person in this thread is awesome...

The lead configuration on a transistor depends on the specific transistor you are using, BJT, JFET, or MOSFET and model, 2N5088, J201, BS170, etc.  Some times they are labled but not often.  Acquiring the data sheet for that particular semiconductor is always your best bet.

I believe this circuit uses a 2N5088, and a J201. The 2N5088 is EBC, and the J201 is DSG with the flat side facing you. If you're not familiar with the J201, the drain (D) is like the collector, source (S) like emitter, and the gate(G), like the base of a standard BJT type transistor. So, you'll have to orient the legs of your transistor accordingly, or hopefully, the socket you're plugging it into. I love mine. There hasn't been a lot of press about it on the forum, but this thing is a beast! Let me know how you like it.
