How can I have different types of status LED?

Hi

My question is:

I am using the millenium 2 board and I was wondering if it is possible to have two status LEDs. One to show when the circuit is on, and one to show when the effect it on.

Help would be much appreciated.

well, wire the millenium bypass as normal, and just wire an LED from 9v to ground. That way, whenever you plug in the input jack, the circuit  "on" light will come on. The millenium bypass LED will come on when you engage the effect as normal.

Don't forget to include a few k's of resistance to avoid frying that power indcator LED!

i don't understand the need for that.

LEDs have a maximum current rating, usually around 20 miliamps. The resistor sets the current to the device which you can calculate using Ohm's Law: I=V/R

Personally, I'd use a CMOS inverter for the millenium but hook another inverter's input to the output of the first inverter, then wire up a bi-colour LED (plus stop resistor) between the inverter outputs.  Wire the LED so that when the effect is off it will be red, and when on green.  Might need to buffer the inverters with others in the package, but shouldn't be a problem

The outputs of a flipflop could also be used, inverter would probably be simpler though (clock input of a lot of flipflops is picky).

Having a Bi-colour LED is a bit swish and stylish. I'll use that for my second project.

Sorry, I am new to this, but where exactly would i place the second LED.

I am using No. 3 on the offboard wiring.

Thanks

Wire it to the ground and to the positive going to the board.  That way, when you plug in the wire, it will light the circuit on LED.
