I've built the following pedals off the tonepad site...

LA RATA - aka RAT

Pulsar

A- GUA 2 - aka MXR Envelope Filter
http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=5

El Griton 2.2 - aka TS808
http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=81

Comparous - aka Ross Comp
http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=9

On all these schematics, it suggests that AC should be used as the power going into the jack, but also uses DC from a 9v battery. So my questions are this I guess,

1. How can it run off AC and DC?
2. Will it damage the unit if I put DC into it from a jack?

Thing is, I want to build a power supply soon and want to know exactly whay type of power I need.

nope, they all work with 9VDC

Thanks, much appreciated. I thought as much but as a newcommer to this art then I'm full of self doubt.

Your wall wart converts the AC into DC.  It's just one of those things thats not exactly accurate, but it's assumed we know what they mean.  Like when people label their ground as -9V.  It's actually 0V, but we get the idea.
