You may want to check out the links to DIY FAQ and GEO FAQ at the top of the page first. If you still have additional questions or confusions, come back with a more specific question and we'll be able to help you. :) The FAQs above are pretty comprehensive, and should cover any outboard wiring questions you have.

I just want to chip in here and say that for me the bassman mods are the best version of the Ruby!....especially for smaller sized speakers. I tried it with different sized speakers and it does sound fuller when using say a 4 inch speaker.
My main Ruby setup uses a vintage 8 inch and its really good.

I also like the bassman mods. Since it is such a small amp, I wanted it to be as simple as possible and the one knob setup was perfect. It really has a bassier tone and the overdrive is actually warm and enjoyable.

The perf layout shows every offboard wire here

http://runoffgroove.com/ruby.html

It doesn't list Volume Lug 1 but that goes to ground.

Are you getting sound for the guitar or not?

If you ARE getting guitar sound, then probably something isn't grounded.

If you are NOT getting guitar sound, then you miswired something. Look through your wiring and the schematic again.

It's easy to make mistakes if you user a perfboard and not PCB.
