i reckon the tingle-tron would be awesome, except im chickening out of building one in case i explode myself and my house.

Quote from: Alex CCould someone give me some tips on how to adapt the tingle-tron to US voltage?  It looks like a blast.

REMEMBER: All it takes to stop your heart is 5 MILLIAMPS!

If anybody starts posting values, I will promptly delete them.

Try burning yourself with matches instead.

If you want to make a shocker that's much safer, use a 555 to drive the 8 ohm coil of an 8ohm:1K audio transformer. 9 volts in will deliver several hundred volts out at low current. You can also hook up a relay as a buzzer and use that in-line with the 8 ohm coil.

Remember.... 5 milliamps and you're DEAD!

haha serious? im there. so you have to make a 555 oscillator and attach it to the 1k part of a 1:8 ohm transformer?

awesome!!!

oops, make that the 8 ohm side

Ideally, you want the "on" pulse to be fairly short, and you MUST install a reversed diode across the coil or you will fry the 555.  You can follow the schematic of a 555 driving a small relay with an NPN. Use an NPN like a 2N3904 or 2N2222 to switch the transformer. Just put a 10K between the base and the 555, and remember to add that reverse diode. :)

When you make one, try connecting a neon light to the 1K side... a small resistor in series with the lamp (like 22K) would be a good idea to limit current, but it will reduce the shock when connected because the neon works like a 90 volt zener regulator.

this one looks like the same as what were talking about.

note to self, dont ever draw schematics in notepad  :?

it says it does 1V ac???

I sure as hell hope no-one gets stupid enough to try any of this :?
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Instant tube power supply! no, really....

Already did...  I'll be posting a project based on my experiments soon...

 I once found similar circuit (you could give nasty shocks with it)  somewhere in the web

But there were a warning message with this link, it said something like this:

Don´t try this at your Old Grandmother, ever...

:D ghehe. I almost killed myself by short-circuiting the AC wall outlet once, so I'm scared shitless by anything over 30V   So I won't be trying any of these experiments. Well maybe the innocent shampoo boost

The one thing I noticed about the "tingletron"...

To operate it, you grab it with BOTH HANDS. This means, guess what, that the current travels up one arm, THROUGH YOUR CHEST, and out the other arm. Remember how your heart is in your chest and if you stop it you're screwed?

I would recommend against building anything which shoots current directly through your chest. You can shock yourself pretty badly as long as it just goes through your arm or leg and not through your head or chest.

The old standby "keep one hand in your pocket (while you work on tube circuits)" is based off the idea that should you get shocked, the current will at least not pass through your chest, where it could likely kill you.
