is it ok to use a 1/2 watt resistor when it says to use a 1/4 watt?

Thanks

Absolutely :), just don't use a 1/4 where a 1/2 watt is specified.

The wattage rating just tells you the maximum amout of power the resistor will take before it starts smoking. You can always use a larger one as long as you can fit it.

For 9v [i think 18v or even 36?] 1/4w R's are fine as 1/2's are...1/2w's are bigger physically and may take up more space than you would like so watch for that.
