Very nice Pelle. How do you like the circuit with the Ge vs Si transistors?

With Ge it's far more usable than I had it with Si, it had some insane gain with Si. Had my guitar volume on like 1 or 2 and still had extreme distortion, sounded quite good though. With Ge it cleans up rather nice if you turn down the guitar volume and it's far more responsive to how hard you pick.

Guess I could have searched my inventory for lower gain silicons and adjusted the collector resistors some to get the overall gain down, but why would I now that I've got my Ge's to work :)

That sounds fair enough, and is good to hear the Ge was worth the bother.

Rob - while you're around. I assume you do a toner transfer onto your enclosures before you etch. What kind of paper do you use (yes I am that far behind schedule - haven't started populating the board yet either)?

Layout I used: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1849818/published_images/perf1.png
PLEASE NOTE: There is an error in the layout, don't use it. It is just for reference.

Cant wait to build this! Can we expect a updated layout at some point?  :icon_biggrin:

I certainly hope so  ;D I need to put it on my list. Because as usual I continue with new projects at full pace.

Not really a pedal but I finished it few days ago and people tell me its useful. So why not show it ?

Name: THofmann aka Thomas_H :-)
Pedalname: Purity aka All-In-One

Documentation of the power amp: http://diy.thcustom.com/?wpdmact=process&did=MzIuaG90bGluaw==

What it does:
I wanted to have a tool to do high quality recording of effects on one side and a solution to practice to playalongs on the other side.
The all-in-one took 3 prototype PCBs and more than 3 months to get everything as I wanted it to be.
A very nice side development is the 10W power amp that runs on a 9V supply, is very small in its dimensions and sounds really good.

Specifics:
•   tube input preamp
•   Input gain control
•   FX Loop
•   Wet/Dry Mixer (Its a panner actualy, so you can have 100% wet only)
•   aux in and aux volume control (connect your favourite mp3 player)
•   buffered amp out with volume control (selectable Mix or FX-loop only)
•   wide range single knob tone control.
•   Frequency correction withSpeaker saturation control (can be bypassed)
•   recording out volume control
•   Mic-a Mic-b and line-level output for the recording Signal
•   symmetric line out for XLR connection (DI-Out)
•   headphone amp
•   power amp 10W

for a better understanding here is a schematic with building blocks and signal paths:

I like the power amp idea! Using two tda2003 one for voltage doubling and another for audio.

Are silkscreen layouts all that is required for submissions?

I was under the impression that layouts had to be COMPLETE in order for "spirit of DIY" sharing.

I know I wouldn't mind building this DIY style. MAybe post or share the Gerbers  ;D

Am I wrong? Judges  ???

for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'

I think you're right Greg. Obviously it's up to the judges but there's a couple of entries that seem to have "required elements" missing.

@thofmann amazing build, love the power amp.

thofmann

You are probably right. I missed the "...and layout" required passage in the contest rules.

Out of the four circuits I used, three are absolutely unique and I did not bother thinking about single sided layouts as there was no way to get the required packaging density.
The Valv-e-tizer has a single sided layout in its V1.1 build document which is freely available.

I am contrary to the "spirit of DIY" saying as you could do your own layout from the schematic and add another level of DIY on top  ; :o

But let me tell you what I think:
First I will leave it to the judges to decide how the rules should be applied.
Second I was really thinking about the "sharing gerbers" idea that was mentioned.
I could agree to put them on for a limited time (lets say 1 month). It would be the 10x10 panel containing the all-in-one board, the power amp and another board that was a fail.

What do you say?
