Has anybody tried these? I tried one out in a circuit I've been using, it's a shaka-type circuit with an opamp pushing Joe Davisson's bipolar Blackfire stage into overdrive.
It has a very clear tone to it, and with a strat, I get a very SRV-ish sound at low drive levels. It's almost too clear, and I may have to 'darken' it a bit.
I understand these opamps have a higher input impedance, and since my circuit has no input buffer, that may account for the clarity. I don't know how it would sound in a tube screamer.
It would probably work real well in a 'son of screamer' type circuit. I understand that the Barber Tone Pump uses these opamps, or at least did at one time, when they were very similar to the son of screamer circuits.
