Looking for unusual 3PDT from Danelectro Cool Cat
« on: December 17, 2019, 09:21:11 AM »
Hi !

I just fixed a Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive V2 (opamp was dead) and when I put it back together I broke the 3pdt switch.
I've been searching for a similar one online but I can't manage to find it. Here are some pictures :

It's about the same width and length as you usual 3PDT, same solder pins spacing, but way lower (about 31mm).
I'm ordering some stuff so I'll give this one (https://www.musikding.de/3PDT-footswitch-compact) a try, but I'm pretty sure it's not gonna work. It might maybe fit and let the box close, but It's probably going to be too high for the "outer shell" oof the switch (see below).

Does anybody know where I could find a switch like this ?
I'd really love to avoid rehousing this pedal :)
Thanks a lot for reading !

My advice....

Contact Danelectro. You might catch the right person on the right day to get them to ship you a replacement. At least possibly give you a part number or a lead on where to find a replacement.

Hi,

No luck with Danelectro, thay don't want to send me anything (part, part number or schem), and I don't seem to be able to find anything similar online.

If anyone has a clue I'm all ears.

Thanks a lot !

I tried everything... nothing I can get seems to fit.
If I could find a shorter switch (shorter threaded part, that is, and I could probably deal with a dpdt) I could open it and put the "pointy" end in there but I CAN'T FIND ANY.

Please if someone has a clue that'd be really cool, I've seen about 3 million footswitches pictures and looked at way too many search results on way too many chinese websites, I'm having nightmares about them :)

Rehouse the guts into a generic pedal box and then you could use a regular stomp switch.

Thanks. That's what I'm trying to avoid, but I agree that it'd be simpler.

These look different - perhaps smaller than the standard ones

Thanks.
The problem is not the bottom part (with the lugs), even if it does need to be smaller than your average blue 3PDT but the ones you pointed are small enough (or most of them anyway) for that.
Tha main problem is the threaded part : they're all too long without even caring about the button shape.
