I read geofex articel on pots, but not entirely clear. I want  to simulate a 100k reverse taper pot using a pot and variable resistor to improve smoothness of a univibe type pedal I've made. What values should I use for the pot & resistor?

From memory, the ratio of pot to fixed resistor values for log taper is about 3:1, so a 100k linear pot and a 33k resistor should work.  For more non-linear effect (e.g. double-log) go for a smaller (e.g. 25k) resistor, or for a more linear effect go for a larger (e.g. 47k or 68k) resistor.
