I just received an order of Hammond 1590S boxes that I got off Ebay (thanks for the head's up, Derek)

I've never seen, nor used these boxes before, but on first site, I think I'm going to love this size.

Like many pedal builders, I use the 1590B and 1590BBs (and the Eddystone version of the latter) as well as 1590Ds. The discussion of our "dream enclosure" had a lot of folks complaining that the 1590B and BB weren't tall enough to fit everything in. I even had to switch out pots in a recent project in a BB because the board wouldn't fit against them.

The 1590S is a little smaller than the 1590BB, except that it's about half an  inch taller.

Seems like the PERFECT size box for those intermediate projects, too large for a 1590B and just big enough for a 1590BB. You're really not losing much real estate compared to a BB, because you're gaining in height. It's not quite as tall as a 1590D.

This is why I like the 125B box smallbear sells. It is basically the same outside dimensions as a boss pedal and the height of the taller switch side of a boss (4.7" x 2.4" 1.6").  I like to use around a 1/2 dozen pedals so  the hammond BB is too wide for me.
