FF+ [?}+ AMZ Tone Control= Excellence ?

Right now I'm running a MPFF [Miss Piggy] through an AMZ Tone Control [the one with the mid scoop]  using a DIST + to drive the TONE COntrol [the article specified that an OA's output works well to drive it]
  What would be a good alternative to the DIST + I'm using for this Tone Control/Boost ckt.
  It actually sounds great But being the first round of TC builds I'm asking for your experience in choosing the amp setup to drive it [I don't think the FF would drive it right by itself]
