Hey, hows it goin?   I'm just about to order some more parts from small bear, this time I really want to fool around with a circut that uses the 4049.  So I have a few choices.

I was wondering if anyone had a clear favorite.  Should I go with the Anderton orignal?  The Mark Hammer mod?  The MXR retail model?  Has anyone really liked (or disliked) any of these boxes?

hey mate,
i built a 3-legged-dog (run off groove) a few days ago and i really like it. you may need to put a couple small caps across the first two stages (i used 120pf and 47pf respectively) to get rid of all the treble that gets passed. after that mod i was much more happy with it, and it made it useable with my strat. and i also used a 10uF cap on the output replacing the 4.7 - and this gives a bit more bass to work with, and as such the box is very nice.

it gives some really great tones, and works best at mid to high gain sounds. anything much lower gets to lo-fi sounding and anything higher for me just sounds terrible (probably cuz i havent biased the jfet right, but i will do it eventually).

hope this helps,
and you might try the double d - i havent built it - but it seems to be a very cool concept and the sound clips sound great! it is also the place from which i got the idea to tame the treble in the 3LD.

have fun building!!

personally i took all six inverters and used it as a sixstage distortion.  i only had a gain of 10 on each stage.
