So is it OK or not to test 9v with your mouth?

If they're reading this thread, there probably won't be many. The only one I've ever heard of is Kate Ebetner, and she doesn't hang out here for some reason. I think it's directly proportional to the number of female guitar players, a shame actually.

Yes, Kate has not checked in here in a long while.  She is missed.

As for female guitarists, there are lots of them.  Most, however, seem to languidly strum acoustics with capo firmly glued in place at the 5th fret or above.  It would be cool to have a Nancy Wilson, Bonnie Raitt or Joan Jett pay us a visit.   8)

Quote from: Peter SnowbergBen, if I had a son after getting out of high school, he would be a little older than you. Damn, that's funny to me somehow.

You are one cool kid!  8)  8)  8)

Thanks Peter I'm flattered :D

I believe it takes about 5 milliamps through the heart to kill you (and that's not much! ). Although I have a feeling my dad passed his heart complaints over to me with his genes :( A while back in physiscs class there was this thingy (I think it's called a weathering machine) where you spin a disk and it charges to about 35 kilovolts. Everyone held hands and the nanoamps of current flowed through all of us and my chest hurt for a day :( Oh well, lesson learnt: Don't play with weathering machines.

I get physics in english, special education :D It's fun though, a few of my classmates can't get their head around a resistor and basic principles like voltage and current, and then I explain it to them in Dutch (and without all the physics jargon) and they get it right away. 8) Kinda makes you feel good 8)
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

It sounds like you are speaking of a Wimhurst Generator. :)

When I was in 4th grade, I wired up an ignition coil from a model-A Ford to a 300 watt clear lightbulb. The coil has a built in vibrator so is sounds like a buzzer when connected to power and it puts out a nice stream of sparks at roughly 30KV. No distributor or other oscillator required.

The bulb had some nice "lightning" inside and then when you touched the lamp surface, you would get a very strong discharge from the wires inside to your hand.

In 6th grade, I brought it in to class. I had all 30 students hold hands and I touched bulb while the last person in line held a fluorescent tube. The tube put out some good light. :D

It was the talk of the school for the rest of the day.

I don't think you could get away with such things these days.

Take care,
-Peter
