Hi,

many DIY People swear on the AMZ MiniBooster, that uses JFets as Transistors.

I never build one, so i can't say if it's better or not.

I build a ColorsoundOverdriver, that is till 70% of Gain a real heavy CleanBooster - you can color the Sound with more Bass and/or Treble, if you like.

A very simple an in my ears very good Cleanbooster is the ElectroHarmonix LinearPowerBooster (one Tranny and a Handfull other parts)
It works clean/non coloring the Tone and boots about 12dB

I build a Fulldrive2 Clone, but tweaked to my taste.
In CutComp Mode and very low Gain it works as as a CleanBoost, but
coloring the typical TS-Midrange and slightly rolled of Bass.
To switch to a clean singing Leadsound its OK

i like the clone i did of a pedal that i won't say the name in a public forum  even though the schematic was discussed here and debunked.  it sounds damn close to me..but i like it, probally woudln't have built it if someone hadn't just give me the parts.

I  made  it  as  well  with  added  zener  diode  like  in
AMZ MOS  booster  and  with  10klin  pot  paralleled  with
10k  resistor  for  more  usefull  tapper  characteristic.
It  sounds  really  good  and  doesnt  destroy  MOSFet
in  it. I  dont  like  'crackle  effect'  of  gain  pot,  but
I  rarely  change  the settings,  so  set & forget .
I  like  AMZ  Fet  boost  even  more,  because  it  is not
such  a  clean  boost  and  colour  a  tone  slightly,  but
in a  good  way.
