I'm building this Electra Distortion Beginner-Pedal. And there is this Homepage : http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Library/1355/beginners.htm

And there at the electrical Components is only written:
...
2) 1N4001 silicon diode (276-1101) 2-pack,$0.49
...

but on the Schematic:http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Library/1355/electra.gif
(if this link doesn't work, please copy and paste the link or press the upper link and scroll down 'till the bottom)
There is also a diode called 1N34A! But I didn't buy it. Can i use the 1N4001 or 1N4003 diode for that? Or do i really have to go again to this shop 30 minutes away :/

Thank's DaKurt

It's just the clipping that will be different. Use any diode you like, use sockets when you put the circuit on a board though, it will allow you  to change diodes at will ;)
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

thank's for the very fast answer...so I'll try now to build something ;)
