I don't know the legal specifics, but essentially, CD prices in the USA have been artificially overinflated by the RIAA, so they were told to lower them as well as pay some damages. This included lawyers' fees (probably the biggest chunk), CDs for charities, and the $13 checks that everyone is getting if they signed up last year. It's too late to sign up now, but you might benefit in the future when cd prices come down a little.

price fixing - setting a minimum price for CDs

Xlrator

That sounds cool, but did you get a certain amount of $$ depending on the amount of CDs or was it just for signing up? I never heard anything about this on the news or in the paper.

Man, I'm kicking myself for not knowing about this a year ago and filling it out.

Public 1 : Lawyers 100000. That'll teach'em. Well since you can't buy any good CDs at that price wait for a sale and buy a box of blank CD-Rs instead. ;)

I think downloading is a direct response of these overpriced CD's... The music companies can't bitch about it it's there own fault. If they lowered CD prices a bit they might actually make more profit ;)
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.
