... can now be downloaded from my website (prophecysound.com, look on the IF page). As stated previously, the audio section is just a biphase channel clone with clean blend thrown in. I make no great claims of originality, but I do claim the (worthless) prize for the greatest number of controls on a bulk-manufactured pedal.

You know mike, I always sort of used to turn my nose up at you because you were a member of commonsound but didn't distribute schematics (however stupid it was of me), but now you have my utmost and undying respect.

I'm most likely going to build one of these now.  Thank you thank you thank you.

Well, thanks Colin ... I think. ;) It is up to people to do what they want WRT to schematics and the like. I know Tom wants to keep his alphawave schematic under wraps, and that's cool too. I would be pleased to help people out building an IF if they want, and would love to see DIY efforts. It's possible I have some old IF (mkI) PCBs that I can part with, will have to see what I have lying around.

I'd love a PCB, because I think designing my own perfboard layout for this thing would be a huge pain.  Let me know, I'm very interested.

I'm fine with people keeping it under wraps-totally respect that, just with commonsound and all... I don't know, like I said it was sort of stupid of me.

so colin are we still friends?  commonsound started a bit rough . mike and i brought the quality level up about 4 years ago. mike correct me if i'm wrong.
at this point all pods are strong ST.LO,MNTN,AND AUS!!!!!!!!!!!
the only reason i don't post my schemo's is this.......... it's how i survive.
i work 70- 80 hours a week and still can not pay ALL the bills yet.
i'll post them after i can not fill all the orders myself.
funny , i've NEVER made a device and sold it, from any stuff that i've read or made on this forum.
there's so many great devices to make from this forum, i just don't have the time. colin being as young as you are, in a few years you could be dangerous 8)
  getting back to commonsound:...........................
dann green is the most amazing person i've ever met, mike both is one of the most kind and giving souls i've never looked in the eyes and yah he does killer work! i'd die for either one of them. i'd rather be dead then not having them in my life.
enough of you seeing me w/ my pants down so to speek.
                peace to all pedalpals,
                       - troubledtom

Mike, If any mkI boards turn up, keep me in mind, I'd love one! :D

Dude, I totally respect you.  Don't get me wrong at all.  I don't plan to post any complete schems of any of the pedals that I make for NSFX, either.  Commonsound rocks my world and so does troubled variance, even if I only understand 75% of what you say :)

Please don't think of me as insulting, I've never tried to be, just curiousity.

cool colin,
i only understand 50% of what i say, so you're one up on me

You guys are beautiful. I can feel the love.  8)

Hey, Mike... You are just too cool for words! Thanks for posting your schemes. And, if you do have any more old IF mkI PCBs hanging around that you are willing to part with, I would definately be interested!

Thanks, again!

Mike,

if you have any pcbs lying around . . .i would like one.  thanks.  antonio.

Mike,

I have to throw my interest in a mk1 pcb as well...if you happen to find any that you want to part with, of course.  I bought all the parts (that's a large bag of pots) a couple years ago and only got as far as the power supply on perf board.

Ry

travissk

I'd be interested in a pcb as well.. schem looks great, thanks very much :)

Schematics and PCBs aside, I'm wondering what this means for Prophecysound and that fraction of the Commonsound Collective.

What I mean to say is, I hope things are well with you mikeb.

swt

Yeah Mike!!. That's just the kind of attitude we expect here. You know, that's a point i mention before in another thread.
Sometimes people can't see the way to do things. There's some guys who might want to take advantage of the posted schem. But it's a small percentage of them. Here in the DIY community, a lot of people can contribute to make things a lot better. Besides, someone that is in diy will just try to figure it out himself and avoid buying something, so ...why not make profit of this?. If Zack have his schem's published, and sell his kits as diy, like small bear and others, he would earn some money he is not getting now. I mean, there's a hole market for people who wants to make things by themselves, and will not buy a new unit. So why not taking advantage of that?. I think you should sell those pcbs and parts as diy kits, apart from the original units. Just by asking here not to post pcbs, will ensure you a nice work, we respect that, but sharing schems, doesn't hurt anyone. I feel that a lot of work is being involved in the process of pcb making, and that can change the tone and feel of any circuit. That's the reason i'm not into sharing the pcbs of commercial fxs. If you want the original, you can always buy it, or build it from the manufacturer himself. If you want a clone, diy. Ask any trainwreck owners about tone in those amps, and you'll get what i mean about layout. That guy used to place his ot by hand, to get better tone!. That's Amazing!. Each amp has it's own character.
So thanx again for sharing your schems. I hope you can make really good money with this and any of your good designs. Hope Mr huge is reading this also, and can get into bussiness again.
And always...if you can afford buying the original...buy it. It's worth the money.
Of course if we can diy, and need to do it like most of us, have both. And compare. It's a good way to learn.
Excuse my english, but it's not my main language. Good luck, man!

to me, PCB-layouting is just the homework, which nowadays is done with a mouseclick (for not too demanding circuits...), once the schematic is finished.
But designing/inventing a circuit really isthe magic and the sweat that requires experience and vision,
(nowadays sometimes  also assisted by some "simulation", but nevertheless),
and therefore is in my eyes that part of a "box", which is regarded the "secret" by some designers....

mikeb

I'm not looking to make money from sharing the schematic or any PCB layout I can make available. Part of the reason I'm doing this is because I realise prophecysound is not sustainable as my only source of income unless I seek out loans and funding, and I don't want to do that. Another part is that it is my way of going against the superficial and clickey attitude of some FX builders (one example - a few days ago I posted a thread on HC refuting the laughable allegations of Robert Keeley that I paid people to do good reviews for my pedals; I didn't mention his name at first, but after another couple of emails from him decided I would, at which point my thread was deleted with no explanation, presumably by HC admin). However, mostly it is so people can have another thing to look at, build, play around with. I would be very impressed if people made one - it is not a complex circuit, but does have a high part count.

With respect to the PCBs, I can't seem to lay my hands on any, but DO have a layout in Protel for the MkI (this is pretty much identical to the MKII, but lacks the 'real' blend control). When I've got a little time I'll do something with this and make it available also.

The PCB layout is a work of art and engineering in itself. I don't think you can dismiss this so easily, as it is the one and only physical realisation of what previously was only an idea or design or concept. Even with 'simple' circuits, it is important to 'get it right' as regards layout for low noise, easy assembly, correct size and position of mounting holes, and so on.

The infinitphase PCB layouts for the MkI and MkII took many, many hours each, and certainly more than one mouseclick! ;)
